Our people are awesome

I got a call from a friend that just started going to the Stirring. He told us about a women that just gave birth and really doesn't have any resources. He asked if there was anything people at the Stirring could do. Meghan made a couple calls and this is what showed up within the hour. 3 other people are bringing by stuff and we are giving it to her tomorrow. This is what it means to be a family living out God's heart in the city. Good stuff!

Hey how come no one called me? We obviously don't have any baby stuff but I could always go get something! What else is needed?

We got a ton of stuff so I think she's gonna be set. We need to come up with a system to go out to people when a need comes up. Any suggestions?

What sort of suggestions are you looking for? it would probably be useful to have people divided in some way so that the same people don't end up getting called every time... and it would probably be more time efficient if there was some sort of calling list in place so Meghan doesn't have to make all the calls... i don't know, organization is not my strong point. Right before I left in Dec we had a gift card donation thing going on, which seemed like a good idea, but I guess sometimes people need actual stuff, not just gift cards. I'm ready to help however I can, when you figure it out.

Why can't we put the need on the blog. With a time frame on which you need stuff.

I think we meet her immediate 'needs'. Her current need is continuous connectivity. My Life Group will remain in touch with occasional 'gifts'. And what's more? Their 8 year old daughter attends East Cypress Elementary yo!! For me, the backpack passing out begins NOW my brothers and sisters! AT least for this one sweet girl! I'll keep digging, I KNOW there are more families in need like this one!

For the record...

When the Family entered their room, the absolute freaking PILE of things that was gathered at first stunned them, then they embraced each other and wept, openly and unashemedly. Of course I didn't, ya know, male and all.(Prev. sentence high in bovine scatology...look it up) but what amazed me most is that when a defenseless baby needed help, you guys came through like champs. Thank all of you. I know DeLaci appreciates it, as does her family.
p.s. three tissues...that's how many I used "not crying"
